Using Activated Charcoal after teeth extraction.

Is it safe/beneficial to brush with activated charcoal after a tooth extraction? I’ve had two bottom left molars extracted two weeks ago. There are still holes…

Hi Marie.

Yes, it would be safe to use the charcoal after an extraction, in fact I have! It really helped heal the wound quickly. I didn’t just brush with the charcoal, but made a little putty with activated charcoal and psyllium seed husk powder and placed it right where the tooth had been pulled and it worked like a charm.
Also, you can make a mixture of charcoal powder and ground flax-seed and use that internally and you can also make a charcoal poultice and place it on the outside of your mouth, covering your cheek/s as well. I did this when I had a terrible and huge abscess and my mouth was so sore I could not put anything inside my mouth as it was so tender, so I placed a poultice onto my face over the abscess and it also worked extremely well. The charcoal that I generally use for all the above is the hardwood, but any of the food grade charcoals are going to work well.
