A Chili Experience With Charcoal

Chili, also affectionately referred to as PT, ‘Princess Trouble,’ was sitting forlorn outside our back door next to a huge mess, she had just vomited. I had just arrived home from grocery shopping and knew instinctively that my husband was in the house cleaning up more messes and had set her outside.

One Sick Kitty

I had noticed late in the afternoon that our active little kitty was suddenly acting rather sluggish. She wanted to go inside instead of playing with the big, outside cats.

She has a voracious appetite and will eat just about anything the first time around. She will try anything once and twice if she likes it… we cannot say what she consumed. She simply loves to eat and play hard! It was clear our little princess was truly in big trouble and we needed to act fast.

What to do for Poisoned Kitty?

I quickly brought her inside and learned that she had thrown up quite a bit. I placed her in her bed inside the bathroom. Then I went to get my Vet Detox out of the cupboard and I quickly began preparing an anecdote. I combined Wild Caught canned fish, that I have on hand as a special treat for my favorite feline friends, and Vet Detox powder.

I mixed two heaping teaspoons of the Vet Detox in a small amount of wet sardines and tried to interest her. However, all I accomplished was giving her a black charcoal nose, she would have none of it. She was way too sick to eat and that speaks volumes so we moved on to plan B.

The next option was to fill a clean dropper full of lukewarm charcoal slurry and administer it orally. I took two and a half tablespoons, or more, in a ¼ cup of warm water and mixed it until well combined and no powder remained in the cup.

I tested the dropper a few times, filling and dispensing it back into the cup, to make sure that it was working well. I picked her up, held her close, and slipped the dropper into her mouth and administered the charcoal slurry so that it would go easily down her throat. Chili was so sick, her resistance was minimal.

I gave her two droppers full the first time, then I let her rest for at least ten minutes before dosing her again.  From there on, I would do one dropper full about every five minutes, up to seven doses total.

Chili’s Recovery from Poisoning

Chili really seemed to know that I was helping her. Surprisingly, none of the charcoal spilled from her mouth, she ingested each and every dropper full, mess free.

Finally, I laid her back down in her bed and just softly petted her.  After some soothing strokes of her coat I put the remaining charcoal slurry in her little water dish so she could drink through the night. I also placed her litter box not too far from her and after a little more loving, we called it a night.

In the morning, Chili was back to her normal feisty self. She wanted out of the bathroom and, yes, she was hungry. The crisis had passed!

Again, we have no idea what she got into, but it appeared to us that she ate something quite poisonous. So grateful I am to know the amazing Super Natural Remedy of Activated Charcoal.
