Coconut Allergies and Activated Charcoal

Coconut allergies? Afraid to use coconut shell charcoal? Charcoal House has you covered, Read on!

A customer’s inquiry

“Hi. Is any of your activated charcoal free of coconut? I have a coconut allergy and must avoid all. Intended use is for drinking water and note I am especially interested in removing chloramine. Thanks much, Vivian”

Response to Allergy Concerns

There are a lot of folks that are allergic to coconut. Although many do suffer with coconut allergies, in most cases they can still use the coconut shell activated charcoal. However, some do not even want to take the chance to see if their body reacts to it or not. With that in mind, we can hardly blame them.

For this very reason, Charcoal House wanted to provide an excellent option for those with coconut allergies. That is why we brought in our line of hardwood activated charcoal, which can be used for both air and water.

Hardwood and Coal Based Activated Charcoal

Charcoal House’s  hardwood activated charcoal granular is a very good choice for filtering municipal water. Likewise it is ideal for those who prefer to stay away from coconut shell activated charcoal.

We also have a coal based charcoal. However it is routinely used in aquariums for the simple fact that ammonia is deadly to fish. Since chloramine is a combination of chlorine and ammonia, this makes it a great choice as well.  Coal based charcoal can also be used for water filtration for human consumption.

Bamboo Activated Charcoal

Furthermore, for those that want to make body soaps, use charcoal powder in homemade smoothies, or as a simple remedy for an upset tummy, we have the steam activated food grade bamboo activated charcoal powder. Bamboo is ideal for all such purposes, it is a very fine powder and could even be used for natural teeth whitening as is, or you can add it to your own homemade toothpaste. Due to its fine nature and that it is food grade, it is perfectly designed for cooking purposes.

Another fun and effective way to use bamboo is to purify your water. Simply take a bamboo charcoal stick and add it to a pitcher of water. Not only does it look cool, it actually works in removing chlorine and chloramine!  For best results, leave the bamboo stick for at least eight hours or more.
